Intro: The Old Hollywood Clock System and it's use in Photography

It is precisely in times of uncertainty and financial instability, when
creativity may play a fundamental role in survival and the development of new
business opportunities.
In the case of photographers, the permanent challenge lies on how to improve
your own images, how to enhance your style , or how to switch directions
entirely, as to be able to provide fine imagery to new clients, probably in a
different field.

This is when the words of Albert Einstein always come handy: Only a fool expects
different results by always doing the same thing.

Creativity depends on many factors, but one of the most important is curiosity
and the desire for experimentation. Now, how are going to plan on doing
experiments when our client list may be shrinking, and we have to play "safe" as
to guarantee a happy customer??

If we think about or photographic style, one of the key elements to either
define it or change it at will, is lighting. If you are stuck in the same
lighting techniques of 5 years ago, your "modern" images of today may look just
like those "old" images of 5 years ago.

This is when the Clock System lighting workshop kicks in. In a very active and
exiting mood, you can learn a few tricks about lighting, and better yet, you can
experiment without fear of loosing a customer, without the need to please
somebody, except yourself, and then, this curiosity and this experimentation
will pay off easily, after you have mastered new approaches to your lighting,
far beyond the traditional, overrated and underused 3 light system that
everyone learns and uses as a safe haven.

The intensive photoshooting seminar is like no other you may know about.
Hands-on and Role Play Shift are key to this part of the workshop. Participants
will start with playing with studio set ups, light and light modifiers rigging,
and creative use of basic studio tools to create scenarios for different kind of
shootings and clients. This exercise goes more towards activating creative
solutions to problems that arise on shootings at the studio or on location, when
originality and quick thinking are key to solve unexpected changes in the
shooting ( weather changes, lights failure, new client's requests, etc).

On the other side, the Role Play Shift in this workshop is an interesting method
of getting a thorough understanding of what a team work consists of, by having
groups of 5 participants doing the roles of

1- Main shooter
2- Photographer's assistant
3-Clock Assistant
4-Lighting assistant
5-Producer/ Digital Assistant

Every participant at some point will be main shooter, so every shooter will have
a full team to help him/her with their own shooting, for great results.
Models, make up and fashion clothing will be available for each team.

So come and join us for a fine immersion into experimentation and learning. The
Clock System will provide all the basic theory you need to start thinking and
planning on your lighting experiments, and the active participation in the
workshops will leave you and a great number of images to learn from, specially
if the experiments led to " mistakes" which are by far the Best source of
information to learn make things better. Contrary to other seminars and
workshops, mistakes in lighting at this point is about the best tool to learn
after the shooting is done.
